As we steam into our last sunset on the Gulf, our Project lead Natalia Sidorovskaia (ULL) shares this:
Our experimental cruise is in its last hours, steaming back home. We had very successful (so far) field work: had over 90 acoustic encounters with marine mammals in real time, over 30 visual encounters, had the first ever recording of a beaked whale by the ASV's unmanned surface vehicle towed array (bravo C-Worker-5) , smoothly deployed five deep water mooring which are going to record ocean sounds for four months, conducted three acoustic platform comparison for over 24 hours, and even went over the plan and tested a newly Proteus-designed volumetric PAM array which was very loved by local dolphins - they were following us for a while flooding all array channels with loud clicks.
